ABOUT THE SHOW

What is
False Positives?

The show

False Positives is a video podcast for security practitioners who are tired of the noise. The bad assumptions. The confident wrong answers. The tools that ship logos instead of outcomes. The frameworks that look great in a deck and fall apart on a Tuesday at 2am.

Every episode, we question the things the industry treats as settled. The sacred cows. The vendor orthodoxy. The conventional wisdom that has never actually been tested. Nothing gets a free pass.

Video-first. Streams live on YouTube. Audio on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Neil Watkins

Nearly 30 years building, breaking, and rebuilding enterprise security programs.

I work at the seam where security strategy meets actual implementation. The CISO deck and the on-call rotation. The board metric and the misconfigured S3 bucket. The vendor pitch and the team trying to make sense of it Monday morning.

What I've come to believe after enough cycles of "this time it'll be different": most security programs are over-tooled and under-architected. We bought defense in depth and got tools in depth. We adopted zero trust and shipped a logo. We shifted left on code but not on identity, on data, or on vendor risk. And now AI is here. Not as a future risk. As today's debt accelerator.

The architecture underneath is what I care about: identity, data, access, detection, and governance. The five fundamentals that don't go out of style, and only matter more when AI agents start touching enterprise tools.

False Positives is where I stop being diplomatic about it.

Co-host

Yaron Levi

CISO at Dolby Laboratories. Formerly CISO at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. 15+ years navigating the gap between what the board thinks security looks like and what it actually takes to run a program.

Yaron brings the operator's perspective. The one where you've heard every vendor promise, sat in every architecture review, and still have to answer for the thing that got missed. He's spent his career translating security into business terms without losing the technical reality underneath.

On False Positives, he's here for the same reason as everyone else. The industry is full of noise. Someone has to question it.
